Chicago Fire Department Ford C Cab pumper truck. Chicago Illinois USA. June 1984.

I took this photograph, way back in June of 1984.

A classic Ford Custom Cab fire engine from the Chicago Fire Department, is slowly heading westbound on West 48th Street just west of South Kedzie Avenue, in an industrial park located in Chicago's Elsdon neighborhood.

Notice that the Chicago Fire Department vehicles did not have that reflective white horizonatl stripe on the sides of their equipment back then.

Thanks.

Another thing you don't see anymore is firefighters riding in an open area behind the cab, like here. Everyone is enclosed now.

Those rotating roof top Mars lights have also disappeared.
The L.E.D bright flashing
light bars with multiple
ultra bright L.E.D's have
replaced this.
