Belt Railway of Chicago steam switcher locomotive # 88 at the Belt Railway of Chicago Clearing Yard facility. Bedford Park Illinois. 1932.

I found this rare old photograph from the Belt Railway of Chicago at my link page Yesteryear Depot.Com, located to the right of your computer screen at www.yesteryeardepot.com

No photographers name is listed for this photograph. It could have been from an employee.

Belt Railway of Chicago Alco 0-6-0 switcher steam locomotive # 88, is viewed alongside the original
Belt Railway of Chicago roundhouse at Clearing Yard in Bedford Park Illinois. The original facility had burned to the ground I believe by the early 1950's, and was replaced by todays huge enginehouse near
South Central Avenue on the BRC property.

Believe it or not, the old turntable pit from the old roundhouse, is still standing to the east of the modern
BRC engine house today.

Steam locomotive # 88 shown here, was photographed in 1932.

Thanks.
Eddie K.
