I took this photo of classic narrow guage rail support operations, in June of 1991 at the Hesston Steam Museum in northwest Indiana.I was definately in the right place at the right time, when I took this candid behind the scenes photograph. The large narrow guage railroad, does not posses a coaling tower. The coal is piled at this location near the end of the run enroute to the Hesston Junction station. A John Deere front end loader, raises a bucket full of coal to the crewmember standing on top of the locomotive sidetanks. The crewmember then stratigically shovels the coal into a storage bunker directly in front of the locomotive cab. The locomotive shown here, is a meter guage industrial 0-4-0 T from Czechloslovakia, built in 1940.
