I took this photo in early October of 1983. The old Grand trunk Western Railroad's Elsdon Yard on west 51st Street in Chicago, was in it's official "Last week" of operation and would soon close. A northbound auto rack train is seen approaching West 51st Street just south of the wooden two story Elsdon depot. The lead diesel unit, is from the Detroit, Toledo & Ironton wich the GTW had acquired through a merger in the year of 1981.Friday, October 05, 2007
