Autum in west suburban Brookfield Illinois. October 2007.

Hello everyone!
Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page.
I took this lovely Seasonal photograph looking west on Monroe Street near Prarie Avenue, in scenic west suburban Brookfield Illinois. The grass islands in the middle of Monroe Street and Lincoln Avenue, was actually the old electric streetcar right of way for the Chicago and West Towns Railway. This was the West Towns last electric streetcar line, wich operated from Cermak and Kenton in Cicero Illinois, all the way to Hillgrove and Brainard Avenues in La Grange Illinois. Streetcar service was discontinued on April 11th 1947, and was replaced with buses. Brookfield Illinois, is a suburban town rich in local history, as well as the home of Chicago's Brookfield Zoo. This is a lovely town to live in or visit anytime of the year in the greater Chicagoland area. I had perfect weather with plenty of sunshine on this October afternoon.

The funny thing about this photo is that if you removed the car, you could have shot the exact same photo 50 years ago.
