Old photograph discovered! The northeast corner of South Archer and Kedzie Avenues. Chicago Illinois USA. January 1980.

One never knows what they might find, if they take out those old shoe boxes and family photo albums occasionally.
I took this photo after school one day in January of 1980. I had just got out of school at Chicago's nearby Curie high School, and actually had a camera with Me at the time! This is the old Huck Finn Doughnuts that used to exist on this corner. I had many a hot cocoa or coffee here on those cold Chicago winter mornings, and would sometimes view the bakers preparing fresh doughnuts in the kitchen from the south window.
This is a "RARE" photograph, as I did not own a camera yet, and My parents to My surprise wanted Me to use up the last few photos on the roll of 110 speed film, so they could finally turn it in and see some recent family photographs. In the background to the left can be seen the old Crane Plumbing Supply clock tower at West 41st Street and South Kedzie Avenue to the north.
The old Huck Finn Doughnuts at this location today, is now a Yale Insurance Agency.
Oh, those nostalgic memorys from Chicago's Brighton Park neighborhood. Take Me back!

Wow!
My family used to shop in this neighborhood many years ago.
It's great to see it how it used to look like.

Two great things to see right off the bat. Crane Tower and Huck Finn! Too bad we can't see Maurie's Liquors and Tap Room or Archer Kedzie Bowl!

Thanks for the memories. It looks like the tower is missing it's clockface. I don't remember when Santa Fe took over the tower and painted their logo on it
