I took this photo on a hot and hazy Chicago summer afternoon, in June of 1985. The Union Pacific had acquired the former Missouri Pacific Railroad through a buy out merger in 1982. For the first 5 years, it was possible to find former Missouri Pacific or Mo Pac units as they were nicknamed, on numerous Union Pacific freight trains in and around the greater Chicagoland aarea. This train is traveling westbound over the Belt Railway of Chicago trackage, enroute to nearby Clearing Yard in Bedford Park Illinois. This view is looking east toward the GTW crosstracks and interchange connections.Welcome to my rail fan page! Here you'll find information and pictures of railroad related items from the Chicagoland area, Wisconsin and Indiana. Enjoy your stay. All Aboard!
