I took this photo in June of 1984, at the former site of the recently closed Grand Trunk Western Railroad's Elsdon Yard. Elsdon Yard had closed in October of 1983, but the yard office area north of adjacent West 51st Street was now being used as a Locomotive and crew terminal. This was operated as such until September of 1986.
Seen here near the Yard Office building, are diesel locomotives acquired through merger from the D,T & I in 1981 idling in the hazy Chicago summer sunshine.
