I took this photo on an overcast and occasionally drizzely Saturday, August 1st 2009 in near northwest suburban Franklin Park Illinois. A westbound Metra commuter local enroute to Elgin Illinois, meets an eastbound Canadian Pacific transfer freight train. The eastbound Canadian Pacific train, is being led by a General Electric AC 4400CW heavy roadswitcher ( out of view. Just passed), while the westbound Metra commuter train is being led by a unique 1974 vintage EMD F-40C.
This one of a kind commuter locomotive, was used exclusively on the Milwaukee Road.
