Southbound CSX Transportation intermodal transfer train passing through Brighton Junction. ( Gone, Rebuilt.) Chicago Illinois. October 2006.

I took this photo one overcast Autum morning, back in October of 2006.

A southbound CSX Transportation Company intermodal container train, is viewed passing through the former Pennsylvania Railroad operated Brighton Junction near South Archer and western Avenues. With the steam era manual semaphore signals that were still in daily operation, Brighton Junction was greatly outdated from a technological standpoint. It is seen here in it's last Autum of operation.

Brighton Junction closed in early July of 2007, and was quickly rebuilt and modernized, wich included new crosstracks too. The operators little wooden shanty and semaphore signals, were destined for museum preservation.
