I found this photograph on the internet a few years ago.

The mid 1970's found many railroads decorating their diesel locomotives in special commemorative
patriotic color schemes honoring the American Bicentenial celebration in 1976.

Western Pacific EMD GP 40 # 1776, is an example of how railroads and other transportation companies,
painted certain pieces of their equipment to honor the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration
of independence (From England) on July 4th, 1776 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, during the American
Revolutionary War against England. This war lasted until 1781.

Thanks.
