Digital Live Sound Video: Northbound CTA Skokie Swift train crossing Niles Center Road during a snowstorm. Skokie Illinois USA. December 2009.

I photographed this digital live sound video on location one morning during My lunch break in December of 2009.

We are facing north at the Chicago Transit Authority's yellow line railroad crossing on Niles Center Road. Heavy snow is falling today, as a northbound Skokie Swift train heads to the nearby Dempster Street Terminal.

Prior to January 21st 1963, this was the Skokie Valley Mainline of the bankrupt electric interurban railroad Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee. The CTA salvaged a 5 mile segment between Howard Street Terminal in downtown Evanston Illinois, and the Dempster Street Terminal in north suburban Skokie. It opened as the CTA Skokie Swift line on April 30th 1964.
