Chicago's NorthWestern Station. ( Gone.) Chicago Illinois USA. January 1984.

Chicago's NorthWestern Station. (Gone.) January 1984.

This is one of My early 35MM railfan photographs I had taken in downtown Chicago Illinois back in January of 1984.

We are at the site of Chicago's 1911 built NorthWestern Station. This old steam era passenger terminal was located on West Madison Street between North Canal and Clinton Streets. This was just a few city blocks north of Chicago Union Station.
The station sign shown here, was located between tracks #7 and #8 at the north end of the trainshed platforms.

NorthWestern Station was demoished during the summer of 1984, but the terminal tracks and trainshed were left in place and operating. The old station concourse building was replaced with a modern steel and glass skyscraper building originally named "The NorthWestern Atrium Center". After the Union Pacific acquired the Chicago & NorthWestern Railroad through merger in 1995, the place was renamed "The Richard B. Ogilvie Transportation Center in honor of the late Illinois Govoner.

NorthWestern Station was owned by the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad.
