Switching the Norfolk Southern Railroad Landers Yard. Chicago Illinois USA. Febuary 1986.
I took this photo on an overcast Sunday afternoon way back in Febuary of 1986.
We are looking south toward the three way intersection of South Kedzie Avenue, Southwest Highway (Columbus Dive) and West 79th Street at the border of Chicago's Ashburn and Wrightwood neighborhoods on the southwest side of Chicago.
There is currently some freight yard switching activity going on at the Norfolk Southern ex Wabash Railroad Lander Yard. Notice the former Norfolk & Western Railroad wide vision caboose with the post 1971 NW markings, as well as the round 1964 Norfolk & western Railroad "Hamburger" logo on the railroad viaduct.
