Westbound Burlington Northern intermodal train. La Grange Illinois USA. January 1987.
I took this photo one Saturday afternoon during the Winter of 1987.
A speeding westbound Burlington Northern Railroad intermodal train, is viewed west of Brainard Avenue passing through west suburban La Grange Illinois. Notice the Tiger striped EMD model GP 50 roadswitchers. The BN GP 50's were the only locomotives on the railroad to recieve this unique orange and black color scheme on the nose.
These locomotives were refered to by local Chicago area railfans as "Tiger Striped Geep (Jeep) 50's.
