Grand Trunk Western Railroad streamlined 4-8-4 steam locomotive # 6408. Chicago Illinois. 1938.

I found this wonderful "Gem" of a vintage Chicago railroad photograph on the internet recently.

This photo and several other really great ones like it, are at a site known as Fallen Flags. Org wwww.rr-fallenflags.org I have been a big fan of the Grand Trunk Western for many years now, and with stylish modern streamlined passenger locomotives like this back in the day.. who couldn't admire this image?

Although the GTW didn't save any of their streamlined 6400 series 4-8-4's at the end of the steam era, parent company Canadian National did north of the border. Canadian National streamlined 4-8-4 steam locomotive # 6400 is on display today at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa Ontario Canada.
It is preserved and lovingly maintained indoors in all of it's olive green, black and gold glory.

Dear Eddie,

I work for the Canada Science and Technology Museum (as the National Museum now known) in Ottawa, Canada. Just thought I would let you know we have several pictures of CN 6400 in our CN Gallery which you can find using the search engine at http://www.imagescn.technomuses.ca/search/search.cfm.

The CN Gallery also has numerous photos relating to the Grand Trunk Western, and several of Chicago. Loco 6400 is indeed still on display in all its glory in our Locomotive Hall.

Yours,
