The Metra coach yard at West Roosevelt Road and South Canal Street. Chicago Illinois USA. December 2007.
I took this photo one morning back in December of 2007.
This photo was taken with My camera lens looking through a chain link fence alongside South Canal Street. Seen here just south of Chicago Union Station, is one of several Metra commuter coach yards and maintenance facilities in the city of Chicago Illinois.
This facility services Metra commuter train equipment, that is used on the busy BNSF Railway 3 track Chicago to Aurora mainline. This mainline with it's many fast and frequent commuter trains, is known a "The Racetrack". Prior to 1970, this facility was owned and operated by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad.
