I took this photo, back in early March of 1983.
The century old , seedy and very run down transient Jakter Hotel on the southeast corner of West 47th Street and South Kedzie Avenue, was in the process of being demolished to make way for a small retail strip mall when I took this photo.
In the backgroud, We see a Chicago Transit Authority mid 1970's era GMC fishbowl windshield TDH Series transit bus, working the CTA Route # 47 West 47th Street bus route. The bus is approaching the bus stop on the northeast corner of West 47th Street and South Kedzie Avenue.
