One of My favorite North American Railroads from pre 1982 times,
was the regionl western railroad known as the Western Pacific Railroad. This railroad existed from 1910, until acquird through merger by the Union Pacific Railroad in 1982.
During their modern diesel era, the WP diesels had colorful liveies ranging from orange and silver, to solid orange and black. By the 1970's, the basic economical solid dark green with orange stripes had taken over.
This 1972 photo shows a Western Pacific General Electric model U-30B diesel locomotive # 2254, heading up a freight train at Salt Lake City Utah.
