During the early 1970's, I traveled a handful of times with My family aboard the Amtrak Floridian, and also rode the Amtrak City of New Orleans once in 1977.
Back in those early Amtrak times, dome cars left over from the 1950's era of North American streamliner passenger trains, were still in daily use on some trains. They were fun to ride in, and offered excelent panoramic views of the train and surrounding scenery. This is an interior view of a dome car. Dome cars were eventually taken off of the Amtrak trains during the 1990's. It was nice while it had lasted.
