Switching the Metra / BNSF Railway commuter coach yard at South Canal Street and West Roosevelt Road. Chicago Illinois. August 2007.





I took this photo back in August of 2007.

Looking south from the West Roosevelt Road bridge immediately south of downtown Chicago Illinois, We see an old fiirst generation 1950's era EMD SW Series yard switcher from the BNSF Railway, working the Metra coach yard and maintenance shop at West Roosevelt Road and South Canal Street. This facility, services Metra locomotives and cabooses, on the three track Metra / BNSF Railway Chicago to Aurora Illinois commuter mainline.
