Westbound Village of Glenview Public Works dump truck with a snowplow attatched. Glenview Illinois USA. Tuesday, February 1st, 2011.

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011, was a news making day in Chicago weather history.

A record 20.9 inches of snow fell on may parts of the entire Chicago area. This crippling snow storm, would become known as the Chicago blizzard of 2011. The snow accumulation on the ground, lasted just shy of the two week mark in many areas, as warm air would soon creep into the greater Chicagoland area.

This photo was taken looking east on Glenview Road, in north suburban Glenview Illinois around 4:35 PM. The snow would fall heavilly overnight, until approximately 11:00 AM the next day.
The strong winds blowing out of the northeast, made the sideways falling snow seem like a desert sandstorm.
