Grand Trunk Western Railroad visiting business car at Elsdon Yard. Chicago Illinois USA. August 1983.

I took this photograph at the now long gone Grand Trunk Western Railroad's Elsdon Yard in Chicago Illinois, way back in August of 1983.

After many years as a busy railroad terminal on the southwest side of Chicago, the sun was actually setting on the quaint and still very steam era like GTW Elsdon Yard.

Seen here parked on the south side of West 51st Street near South St. Louis Avenue, was a visiting GTW railroad office car.

The GTW was making plans at the time to close Elsdon Yard, which they eventually did in October of 1983. This was definately the end of the line for Elsdon Yard.
