Bachman Santa Fe Alco S 4 yard switcher locomotive with DCC and Sound., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I took this photograph recently, at the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers, H.O Scale Model Railroad Club.
My recently purchased Bachman model of an Alco (American Locomotive Company) 1950's era model S 4 diesel electric yard switcher locomotive with DCC and sound, pulls a short freight train on to the swing bridge, over a yet to be scenicked river scene section of the layout.
The locomotive is wearing the 1950's era black and silver zebra striped color scheme and markings, of the former Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad.
The Santa Fe used this color scheme on some of their diesel freight locomotives from 1950 to 1960, and a good number of their yard switchers had wore this color scheme in to the mid to late 1960's at various terminals systemwide.
The orange box car behind the locomotive, is a 1960's era Santa Fe 54ft Mechanical refrigerator car, wich was a new technology for railroads during the 1960's, and led to the phasing out of the remaining steam era ice cooled refrigerator cars of past years.
