I took this photo on an absolutely beautiful Indian Summer afternoon in early October of 2007.
It is a somewhat warm day as evidenced by the open front door on the locomotive nose, as a northbound Canadian National transfer freight train traveling over the Belt Railway of Chicago approaches the former Illinois Central crosstracks at Hawthorne Junction.
Hawthorne Junction is located directly on the border of west suburban Cicero Illinois at the Chicago city limits.
