The abandoned Frosted Mug drive in restaurant. Alsip Illinois. February 2010.

I was passing through south suburban Alsip Illinois one day back in February of 2010, when I stopped to take this photo at one of My old haunts that has since went out of business. ( I miss it too.)

A favorite fast food restaurant I always enjoyed visiting in Chicago's south suburbs, was the now closed frosted Mug drive in restauurant on South Pulaski Road at 116th Street.

The Frosted Mug was an old 1950's era roadside drive in restaurant that still featured "Car Hop" service where they placed a tray on Your car window. It was delightfully "Retro", and was a throw back to much happier times during the Baby Boomer era. The owner even had classic car shows in the parking lot on Tuesday and Saturday nights.

The Frosted Mug had closed for remodeling sometime during late 2007, and has yet to ever reopen. It looks like some exterior painting and remodeling has taken place recently, while the windows are covered with paper to prevent any viewing. It has since been put up for sale.
