Groot Disposal Company front loading garbage truck. Des Palines Illinois USA. Tuesday, February 1st, 2011.

Hello everyone!
Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page from the city of Chicago Illinois USA.

On Tuesday, February 1st, 2011, the entire Chicagoland area was struck by a severe heavy lake effect blizzard snowstorm. A total of 20.9 inches fell on some parts of the greater Chicagoland area.
This particular storm, is refered to by the local news media, as the "3rd Worst Snowstorm in Chicago History", comparing this one to the great big one that crippled Chicago in 1967, and the one I remeber from My high school days back in 1979.

Today, there was bright clear skies and cold temperatures with a light breeze if anything in Chicago. Heavy equipment has been brought out to clear the streets in many of Chicago's outlying suburban communities as well.

This photo was taken by Me, during the first wave of the blizzard on Tuesday, February 1st, 2011. It is approximately 3:50 PM during the afternoon rush hour in northwest suburban Des Plaines Illinois.
Heading southbound on Illinois U.S Route # 83 Elmhurst Road, is a Groot Disposal Company front end loading Mack garbage truck ,heading to the nearby waste transfer station near Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. The truck is viewed crossing the intersection at Oakton Street in near white out conditions.

Thanks.
Eddie K.
