Westbound Burlington Northern Railroad unit coal train. Hindsdale Illinois USA. October 1989., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I took this photo, way back in October of 1989.
During the 1980's, I spent quiete a bit of time occasionally railfanning the former Burlington Northern Railroad in Chicago's western suburbs.
Their three track Chicago to Aurora Illinois commuter mainline known unofficially as "The Racetrack", always seemed to be very busy at any given time.
An empty westbound unit coal train, is viewed on a lovely Autum day in October of 1989, passing through west suburban Hindsdale Illinois.
After the 1995 merger of the Burlington Northern Railroad with the Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe, this line became todays BNSF Railway.
