Grand Trunk Western Railroad visiting business car at Elsdon Yard. Chicago Illinois USA. August 1983.

I took this photo way back in August of 1983.

A business car from the offices of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, was photographed by Me around sunset one evening, at West 51st Street and South St. Louis Avenue in Chicago's Elsdon neighborhood.

The GTW was planning on closing the quaint old loveable "Steam Era" Elsdon Yard on West 51st Street, as well as the 1914 built roundhouse at West 49th Street and South Kedzie Avenue.

This old facility was closed for good in October of 1983, and was quickly abandoned. The roundhouse would sit forelorn, until it would be demolished in 1987.

This office car, was proboubly used by the "Doomsday" commision from the GTW home office.
