The Metra commuter rail station in southwest suburban Chicago Ridge Illinois. August 2007.

Another lovely day is coming to an end as the sun begins to set in Chicago Ridge Illinois. The Chicago Ridge commuter rail station is located on South Ridgeland Avenue near 103rd Street, in Chicago Ridge Illinois near Oak Lawn. This depot is located on the Norfolk Southern ex Wabash Railroad line. Commuter trains operate on this line Monday to Friday between Chicago and Manhatten Illinois.

During the 1970's and 80's, commuter trains on this line travelled between Chicago and Orland Park Illinois. during those times, a local nickname that was given to these trains was known as "The Orland Park Cannonball", named after the famous "Canonball" passenger train from the former Wabash Railroad. The real Wabash Canonball travelled between Detroit Michigan and St. Louis Missouri during pre Amtrak times.

Hi Leomemorial!
The weather is starting to get warmer, and I am going to attempt putting together another group outing soon. The last one was a lot of fun. I will try to make it for a Tuesday night.

Thank You.
