I took this photo one evening after work, in June of 2007. The many local schools had just let out for summer vacation time, and now the park was officially open on weeknights for all to enjoy.This happy summertime memory has just reminded Me, that the Kiddieland Amusement Park is going to officially open for the 2008 season on April 12th.
Kiddieland is located at the intersection of West North Avenue / Illinois U.S Route # 64 and 1st Avenue in northwest suburban Melrose Park Illinois. Chicagoland once had many little amusement parks like Kiddieland. Today, this is now officially the last of it's kind in the greater Chicagoland area. Some of the past parks were Fairyland in Lyons Illinois, Santa's Village in Dundee, Adventureland in Addison, Dispensa's Kiddie Kingdom in Oakbrook Terrace, and of course Playland Park in Justice Illinois.
