A live in mascot that helped to make the Hesston Steam Museum a friendly family establishment, was this beautifull male black labrador retriever named Smokey.
Smokey was a very friendly dog who enjoyed greeting visiting children and families at the Hesston Steam Museum. Heck! He even commuted by rail around the property. Here he is enjoying a ride in his coach seat aboard the miniature 14 inch guage railroad.
The Hesston Steam Museum was Smokey's home for 15 years, and today he is burried on the property near the base of the flagpole with a fitting tombstone in his honor. He was a nice dog.
