Preserved Illinois Central railroad caboose. The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois USA.

The real Illinois Central has unfortunately become a fallen flag railroad since the merger and acquisition by the Canadian National Railroad in the year of 1999.
Despite the loss, there are several preserved pieces of former Illinois Central equipment that have made it into preservation circles today.
This red steam era side door I.C caboose is preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum, as well as a sister caboose of the same class at the Fox River Trolley Museum in South Elgin Illinois.
A modern wide vision Illinois Central caboose is also preserved in the town of Lemont Illinois.
