Southbound Amtrak Hiawatha train departing the Glenview Metra / Amtrak station. Glenview Illinois USA. March 2008.

I took this photo one day, in early March of 2008. We are facing south at the railroad grade crossing on Glenview Road just east of Harlem Avenue / Illinois U.S Route # 43 in north suburban Glenview Illinois. Seen here is a southbound Amtrak Hiawatha regional corridor service train. These popular and daily passenger trains travel between Chicago Illinois and Milwaukee Wisconsin, over the Canadian Pacific ex Milwaukee Road mainline. Commuter service is provided by Metra over this line from Chicago to Fox Lake Illinois.

The late 1970's era EMD F-40PH locomotive shown here is no longer an actual locomotive, but rather a very cost effective baggage car conversion equipped with a control cab. Notice the rolling door cut into the side of it recently.

In the background can be seen the large village water tank from nearby Morton Grove Illinois.
