Southbound Chicago Transit Authority, Brown line train arriving at the old Addison Street station. Chicago Illinois USA. March 2006.
I took this photo one day in early March of 2006. A CTA Brown line train enroute to downtown Chicago, is seen arriving at the old Addison Street station. This station is located just west of North Ashland Avenue, and would soon close due to the upcoming CTA Brown line reconstruction project. This is the former Addison Street station site, complete with wooden platforms and old architecture from decades past. Not much here was actually ADA Compliant. ( The Americans with disabilities act.)
The Addison Street station was rebuilt in 2006 and 2007, and today even features an elevator along with it's modern facilties. The CTA Brown line was originally known as "The Ravenswood Elevated Line", and up to the reconstruction, the lines station platforms could only accomodate 6 car trains, instead of the standard Rush Hour 8.
