Chicago's Brookfield Zoo train. ( Gone.) Brookfield Illinois . September 1982.

I took this photo during a September 1982 visit, to Chicago's Brookfield Zoo. From May of 1967 to Labor day weekend in September of 1985, the two foot narrow guage Brookfield, Salt Creek & western Railroad carried visiting zoo patrons in a counter clockwise rotation around the perimeter of the Brookfield Zoo.

After 17 years in storage, the two steam locomotives, one gas powered diesel switcher replica shown here, and several coaches...are now at their new home undergoing restoration at the Hesston Steam Museum in northwest Indiana, near the border town of New Buffalo Michigan.

See My Hesston Steam Museum links page to the right of Your commputer screen for more information about this nice railfan family attraction.
