Westbound BNSF Railway freight train. Brookfield Illinois USA. August 2007.
I took this photo one hot summer afternoon, in August of 2007. I was visiting a local flea market that was set up on the grounds of the preserved "Grossdale" train station along the northside of Brookfield Avenue, just east of the intersection at Prairie Avenue. The outdoor flea market was winding down for the day, and many small time merchants had already left. Seen here from the lawn of the Grossdale station site, is a westbound BNSF Railway freight train. This westbound train, one of many intermitent moves over the three track ex Burlington Northern Railroad ( 1970 - 1995) or what was the former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad mainline prior to 1970, breaks the silence of a summer afternoon in Chicago's western suburbs.
