Northbound Canadian National switching train backing down an interchange siding. Hawthorne Junction. Chicago / Cicero Illinois USA. May 2007.
I took this photo on a lovely Springtime afternoon one day after work, in May of 2007. This Canadian National switching train made up of many tank cars, was just assembled at the nearby CN ex Illinois Central Crawford Yard at the Chicago city limits. I believe this train was ordered on to this track , as it would have to wait for numerous Belt Railway of Chicago transfer trains to pass through here. Once all is clear, I believe that this train will head southbound and serve the industries on the former Illinois Central owned Chicago & Illinois Western industrial branchline in nearby west suburban Cicero Illinois.
