A specially painted Elgin street sweeper vechicle from the City of Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation. September 2002.

A City of Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation Elgin Pelican street sweeper vechicle on West Fullerton Avenue near North Halsted Street. Chicago Illinois. September 2002.

Hi everyone!
welcome aboard Eddies Railfan Page from the city of Chicago Illinois.

Quoting a verse from the popular standard song "Take Me Out To The Ballgame", theres a part that says "We'll Root -Root Root for the Home Team". This is exactly what the Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation just happened to do in recent years.

There are a small number of Elgin Pelican model street sweeper vechicles on Chicago's fleet honoring the city's local Major League sports teams.

I took this photo in September of 2002. The location is looking eastbound on West Fullerton Avenue at the three way intersection of North Lincoln Avenue and also North Halsted Street.

For all of My fellow Southside Chicagoans who may have seen this...Yes, They also have at least one painted up for the Chicago White Sox too.

Thanks.

My guess is that streetsweeper is broken down more than usual and doesn't work very well.
