The preserved 1941 built Electroliner streamlined interurban train from the Chicago, North Shore & Milwaukee Railroad. The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois. Friday, July 3rd 2009.

Where else but at a place like the Illinois Railway Museum, can You find a streamlined interurban train from the Chicago, North Shore & Milwaukee Railroad, parked next to the 50th Avenue CTA rapid transit station from Cicero Illinois?
I have yet to find any other such place Myself.

The Chicago, North Shore & Milwaukee Railroad was an electric powered interurban railroad, that operated between Chicago Illinois and Milwaukee Wisconsin. From 1941 to the abandonement of the North Shore due to bankruptcy in 1963, the streamlined articulated Electroliner made daily round trips between Chicago and Milwaukee, over the Skokie Valley Mainline of the Chicago, North Shore & Milwaukee Railroad.

After the abandonement, the two electroliner trainsets were sold to the Philadelphia Suburban Transit Company, and operated as Liberty Liners on the high speed Norristown Rapid Transit Line until approximately the mid to late 1970's.

This train arrived at the Illinois Railway Museum during the early 1980's, still wearing the colors and markings from Philadelphia Pennsylvania. It was later restored to It's original Chicago, North Shore & Milwaukee color scheme in later years, and is operated here at the museum for special occasions.

The 50th Avenue CTA station, served trains on the Douglas Park elevated line in west suburban Cicero Illinois, until a new station was built in 1978. It was trucked to the Illinois Railway Museum in 1978, and makes a fine display. It is occasionally used for boarding the museum's interurban or rapid transit equipment on occasion.
