Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page, from the city of Chicago Illinois USA.
Todays ultra modern railroad known as the CSX Transportation Company, is actually made up from the mergers and acquisitions of several North American railroad companies over several years.
During the early 1980's, there was a short lived southeastern railroad known as the Seaboard System, wich was also a merged railroad made up from the companies of Louisville & Nashville, and the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad. These two merged railroads, were previously known as the SCL / L&N Family Lines System.
By the mid 1980's, a new company known as CSX Transportation Comapny, purchased the Seaboard System and other eastern U.S railroads. Not yet repainted by July of 1989, these former Seaboard System locomotives from General Electric, are viewed pulling a heavy transfer train through Hayford Junction over the Belt Railway of Chicago.
