Portola Railroad Days 2011

I found this video on You Tube this morning.

A popular railroad museum to visit in northern California, is the Western Pacific Railroad Museum, wich is located on the property of the former Western Pacific Railroad's own shop complex in Portola California.

When the Union Pacific Railroad had acquired the Western Pacific through merger in 1982, several pieces of former Western Pacific locomotives and cars were set aside for historic preservation. The former WP Portola Shops, were now deemed "Surplus" and were facing closure.

The former Portola Shops opened duringthe late 1980's, and were then called The Portola Railroad Museum. Due to the large collection of former Western Pacific equipment, this museum would change it's name in recent times, to the western Pacific Railroad Museum.

This video is from the museum's 2011 Portola Railroad Days celebration.

Thanks.
