The original 1947 Chicago Transit Authority logo. The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois.

I took this photograph during a visit to the Illinois Railway Museum .

Although it is nice to take photographs of the various electric streetcars, steam and diesel trains and vintage city transit buses in their collection...I feel that it is also very important to take the time, and shoot those up close detailed photographs for reference purposes.

Seen here on the side of Chicago Transit Authority 1948 built PCC electric streetcar # 4391, is the original logo from the Chicago Transit Authority.

The Chicago Transit Authority began operations on October 1st, 1947. This was their original red circular logo, and the original CTA paint scheme from 1947, wich was also used on some of their transit buses during the early years of operation.

Thanks.
