The Isabella Street CTA purple line railroad crossing. Wilmette Illinois. May 2012., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I tok this photograph on a lovely Springtime morning recently back in May.
Seen here, is the Isabella Street railroad crossing, along the Chicago Transit Authority's purple line rapid transit system.
The area in the vicinity of this crossing, just north of the north branch of the Chicago River, is very scenic and tree lined, and captures the effect of an electric interurban railroad from the historic past.
Actually, the electric interurban trains from the defunct Chicago, North Shore & Milwaukee Railroad passed this crossing prior to 1963.
