Brand new 1983 vintage Chicago, South Shore & South Bend Railroad cars at the Bendix Road station. South Bend Indiana. May 1983.

Chicago, South Shore & South Bend Train at the Bendix Road station. South Bend Indiana. May 1983.
I took this photo on a May 1983 Central Electric Railfan's Association chartered fantrip over the Chicago, South Shore & South Bend Railroad. This photo was taken
in South Bend Indiana at the Bendix Road depot, wich at that time was the official
"End of the line" for the South Shore. The line has since been rebuilt, and now
terminates at the Michiana Regional Airport in South Bend Indiana.

Our charter from Chicago to South Bend, utilized the then brand new lightweight
cars, wich were in the process of replacing the orange 1920's to 1940's era
heavyweight interurban M.U's. It was a fun charter that included a box lunch
of cold Chicken, Potato Salad and a Roll in New Carlisle Indiana.
