The Prairie Avenue railroad crossing gates. Brookfield Ilinois USA. July 2008.
I took this photo around sunset on a hot summer evening, in July of 2008. Although it is currently a quiet period between trains, this is still the very busy BNSF Railway 3 track Chicago to Aurora Illinois commuter mainline, that for years has been nicknamed "The Racetrack". Trains can come and go at any given time through here, and these crossing signals are constantly getting a good work out. The tempoearilly quiet atmosphere and fading daylight, set the mood for this twilight photograph. In about another 15 minutes....a couple of double stack intermodal container trains will come rolling through here.
