Eastbound locomotives waiting on a hold oeder. Chicago Illinois USA. May 2007.
I took this photo after work one afternoon, in May of 2007. We are looking east from on top of the Central Avenue overpass bridge at the Chicago city limits, near the towns of Cicero and Stickney Illinois. A three unit set of Norfolk Southern Railroad diesel locomotives, with one from the BNSF Railway coupled on the head end, are seen waiting for clearance to more than likely head to the nearby BNSF Railway Corwith Yard. The locomotives are waiting, as trains on the nearby north and southbound Belt Railway of Chicago tracks, are halting all east and west train traffic at the Nerska Junction crosstracks less than a mile east of here.
