Another symbal of America's 1950's and 60's Baby Boomer Era, is being destroyed and redeveloped for other uses. This is yet another example of the Roadside Drive In Movie Theatres that once blanketed small towns and outlying suburbs across the USA.
The Bell Air Drive In Movie Theatre was one of the last ones operating in the Greater Chicagoland Area, and had closed sometime back in the year of 1999.
Today, the tall man made hills that prevented motorists and pedestrians on the west 31st Street overpass bridge from seeing a free movie, are now being levalled by heavy machinery on site. The property is being redeveloped into a large strip mall with a Super Walmart as the main anchor store.
