I spotted this cut of former 1985 era Milwaukee Road coal hoppers at Hawthorne Junction one afternoon in September of 2008. This train was waiting on a hold order at the Chicago city limits, and would soon be heading southbound over the Belt Railway of Chicago tracks to Clearing Yard. This may have possibly been the last color scheme and markings used by the former Milwaukee Road before the merger and acquisition by the Soo Line Railroad in 1985.
