Springtime flooding on the Ohio River. Louisville Kentucky USA. May 1990.

Flooding on the Ohio River. Louisville Kentucky. May 1990.

Hello everyone!
Welcome aboard Eddie's Railfan Page.
I took this photo on the return leg of a May 1990 motorcoach tour vacation to the Great Smokey Mountains in the States of Tennesee and North Carolina. Louisville was the last city We had stayed overnight in prior to our return to Chicago Illinois.

Louisville Kentucky and several other places in the Ohio River Valley, were experiencing heavy seasonal Springtime rains prior to our arrival. The Ohio River was at floodstage, as evidenced by the river water over the top of the docks at the louisville Wharf. Boat mooring Capstans as well as the docks themselves, were submerged beneath the surface of the Ohio River. Floating tree limbs and debris could be seen flowing downstream in the strong currents. Moored in the background, is the sternwheel steamboat known as "The Belle Of Louisville". This vinatge paddle wheel steam powered riverboat, is a popular Louisville Kentucky attraction.
